Influenza Vaccination Update for the 2016-2017 Season
Integrity Health Group strives to follow the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). For the 2016-2017 influenza season, these organizations have recommended that Flumist, the intranasal influenza vaccination, not be given based on studies showing its ineffectiveness during past influenza seasons. Please click on this link ( or copy and paste into your browser to read the full article regarding this recommendation.
With the inability to offer the Flumist vaccine this year, Integrity Health Group will only be giving the injectable influenza vaccine for the 2016-2017 influenza season. The CDC is working with the injectable vaccine manufacturers to ensure that there will be enough injectable vaccine to meet the demand for the vaccine.
With the uncertainties regarding both supply and shipment dates of our injectable influenza vaccine due to this unforeseen circumstance, we will be offering the initial supply of vaccine to our high risk patients, as they are more prone to complications from influenza.
We will be keeping you up to date with regard to influenza vaccination information through our multiple media services, including our website, email list, patient portal and posted notices. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience in advance. As always, if you have any questions concerning this information, please call any of our office locations and speak with our trained nursing or provider staff.
