Our office locations received our first shipment of injectable influenza vaccine. Integrity Health Group and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children 6 months of age and above, especially those that are considered high-risk, receive a yearly influenza vaccine. High risk is categorized as any patient 6 months - 2 years of age, has a diagnosis of asthma or diabetes, has a neurologic or heart condition, has an infant less than 6 months of age living in their household, is immune suppressed or is living with somebody that is immune suppressed. Please call one of our office locations to schedule your children's yearly influenza vaccine today!
In recent medical news, a new version of Flumist (nasal) vaccine was approved for use this flu season by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). However, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), whose recommendations we strongly follow, urges vaccinating children this year with the injectable form of flu vaccine because of the unknown effectiveness of the new Flumist. If, for any reason, you do not wish for your child/children to receive the injectable form of the flu vaccine, the AAP does state that receiving the Flumist is better than your child not receiving a flu vaccine at all.
A small shipment of Flumist is expected for delivery in the near future.Back to article
